Have you ever imagined a huge frontend with 25 pre-installed
and perfectly emulated systems, completed with any existing
ROM, with any possible addon humanly detectable, ready-to-use
by a mere click?
Well, if there wasn't anything like this before today, now
there is Gigabase 2012, a 92867 titanic ROMs collection!
I and my team have spent months and months to assemble and
program this colossal work, writing each script and each BAT
file with exceptional care, in order to obtain fully
automated and very easy operations.
We also found the best and up-to-date emulators with original
BIOSes, and every possible extra for each existing ROM
(screenshots, manuals, artworks, maps, instructions, posters,
movies, musics, and so on).
Each system has been thoroughly checked and tested to make
this creation something magnificent and definitive, so that
it'd surely remain in the mind of nostalgic fans for a long,
long time!
We have also recreated a vintage look as much similar as
possible to the old monitors by setting the correct scanlines
and applying the best appropriate filters in order to avoid
the annoying blocky pixels that inevitably show up in today's
high-definition monitors.
This vintage look was calibrated and tested on a 23-inch
monitor 16:10 1920x1200 resolution. At different resolutions
some parameters should be modified a little.
Regarding the keys mapping, we have used the function keys
(mainly F1 and F12), the number keys (from 1 to number 5),
the ESC key, the space bar, CTRL, ALT, RETURN, and obviously
the four directional arrows.
For the consoles, the typical six buttons PAD have been
remapped to the ASDZXC keys.
Good GIGAplaying, dudes (and dudettes)! ;)

HOW TO INSTALL THE GIGABASE PACKAGE
- Create in the c:\ partition a directory called "PROGS" and
  another one called "PARK";
- Unpack the Gigabase archive into the directory PARK;
- Unpack and execute the "Gamebase Setup v1.3.exe" that you
  will find inside the UTILS directory, making sure to install
  it inside the PROGS folder;
- At the end of the installation process, check wheter a subdir
  called GAMEBASE has been created inside the PROGS folder;
- DO NOT run the program;
- Now take the previously unpacked PROGS dir into the PARK
  folder and move it over the PROGS folder where you have just
  installed the gamebase setup, overwriting files when
  requested;
- Double click the Gamebase icon on your desktop and rearrange
  the window size to fully display all the inside icons.
  Every time you launch an emulator, it will pop up a small
  window that contains some tips, tricks and suggestions: if you
  dislike it, uncheck the box at the bottom of the window, then
  magnify the window of every emulator to full screen.
  I suggest you to set VIEW > LIST instead of DETAILS, so that
  you can see more titles inside the same window

EMULATORS NOT WORKING
If you have an operating system freshly installed, probably
you're missing some files, drivers or libraries that may cause
crashes or malfunctioning.
We tested the complete package on just installed Windows Vista
Ultimate 32-bit and Windows Seven Ultimate 32 bit, and we have
had some emulators not working due to:

- Missing or outdated video drivers;
- Missing VB Runtimes;
- Missing Direct X.

Specifically, the systems that created those kind of problems
were:

- AMIGA (DirectX Runtimes error);
- GAME BOY COLOR (The xaudio2 interface failed to initialize);
- SNES (missing D3DX9_38.DLL);

Inside the UTILS directory, you can find all the toolkits
needed to solve almost any issue.

We do not recommend that you execute this package on systems
running Windows XP or below, because we noticed some serious
emulation problems (especially with SNES and N64).

WinUAE EMULATOR
The first time you launch the Amiga emulator WinUAE, it will
not detect kickstarts BIOS.
From the WinUAE window press F12 to access the emulator
parameters menu, select PATHS, and in the SYSTEM ROMS windows
type: "C:\Progs\gamebase\Demobase Amiga\Emulator\WinUAE\Kickstart\",
then press RESCAN ROMS, and finally close the settings windows:
the emulator is ready.

Since the pointer arrow is trapped by default inside the WinUAE
emulation window, you can press the keys combination ALT + TAB
in order to switch it back to the usual windows environment.

If during the execution of a game you are prompted to insert
another disk, please press F12 to access the WinUAE configuration
window.
From the left window, select FLOPPY DRIVERS, from the right one
select the virtual drivers check boxes DF1:, DF2:, etc. which
already contains the disk images that will be loaded automatically
once requested.
After a few seconds WinUAE will restart to read the datas from the
virtual external drivers.
If nothing happens after a certain period, it means that the game
is waiting for an external input, so please press either the mouse
button or the keyboard fire button.
Note: Some games, especially the older ones, will not detect
external drives, so you have to work only with the virtual drive
DF0.
This is the procedure: select and copy to clipboard the complete
path of the last loaded image disk
(I.E.: c:\progs\gamebase\amiga\games\a\agony_disk1.zip), then press
EJECT (the input text will be deleted), finally past the entire
string and replace the word DISK1 with the word DISK2
(such as: c:\progs\gamebase\amiga\games\a\agony_disk2.zip), and
then press OK. Again, if nothing happens after a certain amount of
time, please press either the mouse button or the keyboard fire
button.

REALSPECTRUM EMULATOR
The REALSPECTRUM emulator will be set to be used with the Kempston
joystick interface, so once you have launched it, press F4 and
select KEMPSTON CURSOR KEYS (RETURN).
When you play with games that have the KEMPSTON JOYSTICK option
available in the main menu, please select it: in such a way you
will manage to enable the 4 directional arrows movements, and the
ALT and CONTROL keys for fire or other commands.

DAPHNE EMULATOR
The DAPHNE laser disc emulator use the "5" key to insert coin
credits, the four arrow keys for movements and the ESC and SHIFT
keys for fire or other commands.

OTHER EMULATORS
The remaining emulators are already fully configured and easy to use.

USE OF THE PARITY FILES
Download the program QuickPar from this site:
http://www.quickpar.org.uk/Download.htm and install it;
- Select the folders with the parity files, but not download it
(disable it, or put them on hold);
- Now, if you want to examine the integrity/completeness
of each set before to unpack it, please download the three
folders with the smallest parity files inside (respectively,
177.88 KB, 177.88 KB, and 138.51 KB);
- Copy the three files that you will find inside their
respective folders into the directory containing all the files
ready to be unpacked (no subfolders allowed);
- Double click the first file and wait for the checking: if all
the icons on the left become green, Your set is OK,
otherwise if you see yellow icons (files corrupt or incomplete)
or red icons (missing files) it means that you need some
repairing files;
- At the end of the check, the program QuickPar will tell you
how many blocks you need to repair the current set.
The number of blocks available for each file is the number
written after the "plus" sign.
For example, if you need 5 blocks, you should download the
file: "Gigabase 2012_0001_0500.vol06+5.PAR2", but if you
need 7 blocks, you will download the file
"Gigabase 2012_0001_0500.vol01+2 PAR2" too: parity files
are cumulative.
Remember that there is no reason to download more blocks
than the necessary ones;
- Once the QuickPar show all green icons, repeat the same
operation for each of the two remaining sets.
When all the three sets are checked and eventually repaired,
the archive is ready to be depacked.

Tested and certified virus free with Avira Premium Security Suite
running under Windows Vista 32bit Ultimate Service Pack 2.
